St. Joseph's Convent School, Phagwara is an English Medium School founded under the aegis of the Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar and was established in the year 1978 and started functioning with 238 students in L.K.G. & U.K.G. on the 1st & 13th March of the same year and was officially inaugurated on the 1st of April, 1979 by the then Chief Minister of Punjab. The Institution has since grown up into a High School and has now classes of primary and middle school sections from std 1st to 10th. Undoubtedly the School is the Premier Institution of this area and it has carved out a prominent niche for itself in the realm of education in Punjab. This is a high school and also has primary and middle school sections from Std. 1st to 10th. It is run by the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) under the management of the Diocese of Jalandhar. It Prepares students for the course of Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE).
The Diocese of Jalandhar owns and administers a number of Convent Schools in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh under the dynamic leadership of the Bishop of the Diocese of Jalandhar. One of the main objectives of the Diocese is to impart spread quality education to every nook and corner of these States. The Diocese has schools not only in urban centers, but also in the remote villages where educational rights of people are often overlooked and neglected due to many reasons. It attempts in its own humble way to further the process of development of our nation, which is possible only if it's all Citizens are freed from bondages of ignorance and illiteracy. For the general administration of the educational institutions of the Diocese of Jalandhar, a “Diocesan Board of Education" has been constituted. All the educational, managerial and administrative policies are made formulated by this Board, in consultation with the Directors and Principals who are the over all in charges of the educational institutions, of a particular place area is concerned.
